Alaska is known for the big gold rush and our favorite peeps, Devon and Kyra hooked us up again. This time we took a tour to the El Dorado mine.
It's just a few miles up the road, you take a train ride into the mine and they tell a few stories along the way, complete with a dude who sings. The ride resembled Big Thunder Mountain only not as fast. It was nice to get a little history lesson and to see how it all worked.
Once you get to the main part of the mine, they give a little demonstration on how the sifting of the dirt works. It's just not a complete experience unless you have an old guy with a beard.

Charlie just grabs the gold instead of panning it, much easier that way.
At the end of the tour they give everyone a little bag of dirt and we get to pan it on our own. Doing this with a small child is a little difficult, but it was a great time.
Jim got the hang of it...
Had it weighed...I think it was like $48.00 worth.
And said our goodbye's...
Good times had by all.
Another adventure checked off our list.

Looks like there is a lot to do in Alaska. Fancy parades, panning for gold ... what WILL you think up next ;) Fun to read about all the goings on in your adventure!
