Super Sixteen

I've been meaning to write about this all week, but I've been lame. Last Saturday Jim surprised me by taking me to the Hollywood Cemetery for an outdoor screening of Sixteen Candles. Don't you just love that movie?

We've heard about the screenings for quite some time and just haven't made the effort to go. Jim's wife points meter went off when he saw that it was Sixteen Candles. So we pack the car with the essentials...beach chairs, blankets, movie candy, a game, hoodies and KFC. We were told that the cemetery parking lot opened immediately at 7, so you've got to plan to drive up right at that moment. They were serious because we drove up at 6:53 and were NOT let in. So, no big thing we'll just drive around the block and by the time we get back around it will be 7 o'clock. HA!!!!!! Not so much. We make it around the block and then we come to a grinding halt. There is seriously maybe 20 cars ahead of us right before the light. Well, there was only 1 car going through the light at a time. Because traffic going straight had only one car going through as well. It's very hard to explain, but it took us an hour and fifteen minutes to get to the gate. So we ate our KFC in the car and had a fun time watching everyone else walk to the gate. And making fun of cars who would try to cut in line and NO ONE would let them in.

We got in with 15 minutes to spare, and even though we were super late we managed to get a great seat. Jim, if you can believe it never saw the movie as a teen so it was fun to listen to him laugh. It was great! The crowd would cheer when Anthony Michael Hall came onto the screen for the first time. And there was a applause when Sam and Jake finally kissed. It was super fun and a great time. I think next week is Rear Window and we can't wait to go.

We found out that the best thing to do is to go an hour early and wait in line. That, apparently is part of the fun, you hang out in line, eat and play games.

Very Hot, Very Hot!

I'm so jealous you got in! Thanks for the recap. It sounds like so much fun! Yes, Anthony Michael Hall made that movie great.

I am jealous too! I've heard about the movies at the cemetery and I've always wanted to go for a date night. Rear Window? That's the movie you said was next? That movie is awesome! Have fun! Go out on as many dates as possible before that baby comes!
